Changes to my study program

I study visual arts in the university of Chile, it is a career that i like very much, although i would make some changes in the curriculum, for example, to have more practical course in the laboral area, courses of artistic mounting.

The career the visual arts last four years, i think it is enough time to learn the essential of arts, and to give us the tools to crate our projects. The workload is very demanding, all the time we have work to do, even on weekends, it is exhausting but good for practice.

 

Teaching methods at the university are fine with me, the teacher’s guide us according to our interests, make us think about our ideas, help us solve technical problems, and are sympathetic when have a problem.

 

I would like the university to have more exhibition spaces, with white walls, more plinths and exhibition tables, because at the time of use, there are not enough. Also, i would like the cafeteria to have more variety of food, and the library to have books in exposition for the students. And something very important, the infrastructure needs improved. Improve the roof, remove asbestos, repair drainage to prevent flooding when it rains.

Despite all the problems the university has, it is a place I love, I like the grasses, I love being with my university friends, I like spending time in the workshop and in general I enjoy university life.

MY DREAM JOB

  I am not working at the moment, because I am studying full time. Sometimes I work in informal jobs, to earn extra money. My ideal job is to work in something related to my studies, in the area of visual arts. In the future I see myself teaching in a school, also doing workshop for the community in some cultural space or in my house in my art workshop. I imagine a job where I teach, do fun activities for children. In the workshops I imagine sharing experiences with the assistants and enjoying what we do. I also hope to work in a museum or gallery, organizing art expositions, doing events, always involved in the art world. I will have the necessary skill to teach my artistic knowledge, since I am studying visual arts. I know i will not have a millionaire salary, but i will be happy doing what I like. But I hope that my salary will be enough to live good. Another job that I really like, is working in a bar, I have worked in bars, and I love to prepare drinks and cocktail...

THE BEST VACATION EVER

The last year in november i went to torres del paine, i went with five friends, Nicole, Betina, Dazna, Macarena, Barbara and me, we went for a week, we flying in airplane from Santiago to Puerto Natales, to start the adventure running the park.  We walked a lot, the road was dificult, we did the circuit W, we toured 82 km in a week, the distances were long, from three to eight hours between campings. We slept in tents, two in each tent. Every day we did trekking. I have never walked so far.  I take many pictures, to the landscapes, to birds and my friends. The landscapes were amazing, the wheater changed a lot, there was sun, rain, a lot wind, hot and cold. It has been the best vacations so far, because i went with all my friends, we have a fun, and because i love it the south of Chile. It was a nice experience.

POST-GRADUATE STUDIES

 I am in my third year of visual arts, i have one year to finish the career. There are many things I would like to do after I finish my career. The most important is that i want to study visual arts pedagogy. When i finish my career, I must take three semesters to obtain the pedagogy in visual arts. I would like to be an arts teacher to teach in schools. I also want to do workshops independently, in my house or in cultural spaces.  I would love to study in another country, do a course, always related to art. Specialize in any technique, or learn the art of some culture, for example, the shipibo art. the Shipibo are an ethnic group of Peruvian amazonia. Or go to a university to study a diploma course, also related to the world of the arts.  Going to study in another country is something I would really like to do.  I like face to face classes, I learn better and the relationship between classmates and teacher is more interactive that an online class.
